MCC Replacement Project
Kanwar Engineering successfully executed the replacement of a 600V Motor Control Center (MCC) for Lube and Grease facility to upgrade their aging electrical infrastructure and improve system reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

Scope of Work:

-
Assessment and Design:
-
Conducted a detailed site assessment to evaluate the condition of the existing MCC and identify key operational requirements.
-
Designed a modern 600V MCC system tailored to the client's current and future needs, incorporating advanced technology for improved performance.
-
Ensured compliance with applicable codes and standards, including CEC, ANSI, and CSA Z462.
-
-
Equipment Selection and Procurement:
-
Specified and sourced the new MCC, including features such as:
-
Intelligent motor control modules.
-
Enhanced protection relays and monitoring systems.
-
Arc flash mitigation technologies.
-
-
Procured auxiliary components, such as busbars, cable trays, and termination kits, to support the installation.
-
-
Replacement and Installation:
-
Planned and executed the phased replacement of the MCC to minimize plant downtime and ensure continuity of operations.
-
Supported removing the existing MCC and associated wiring, ensuring safe disposal of old equipment.
-
Supported Installation and commissioning of the new MCC, including terminations, cable management, and connections to field devices.
-
-
Power System Studies:
-
Conducted short-circuit, load flow, and coordination studies to optimize the protection system.
-
Updated arc flash studies to ensure personnel safety and compliance with safety regulations.
